Apologies to all the fans for the cancellation of
the Barton Le Clay Festival we had a lot of e-mails about this from people
complaining that they couldn't find tickets or anywhere to buy them! Maybe
the guy who called himself the promoter should've actually tried to sell
tickets before he cancelled it due to lack of ticket sales! The mind boggles.
A new book by Sterling Whittaker
called " Unsung Heroes of Rock Guitar" has just been published
and features a very in depth and frank interview with Mick that all the
fans will find extremely interesting and at times hilarious! Check out
the link to find out how and where to purchase the book.
Quite a few things interesting have happened over the last
few months, and here are some interesting snippets of information for
you. However, I persevered, and finally came across a company in Prague in the Czech Republic, who have got some seriously good credentials and their prices are nowhere near the cost of the ludicrous prices charged in the UK. The company is called Europa International. See their website whilst I was browsing the site I noticed that they were running a competition and being of a curious nature. I decided to enter. I only really did it for a giggle, but one month later I received an e-mail proclaiming the joyous news that I had actually won the competition! Unbelievable, but it gets better, I had actually won 6000 pounds worth of cosmetic surgery ! From there, things started to really take off . One of our local newspapers took an interest in the situation, and did a piece on my good fortune, the next thing was that I was contacted by a promoter who asked if I would be interested in playing in Prague. And of course the answer is yes ! And it looks very much like they will be doing some kind of a documentary following me around for a little while. A. to watch the gig and the preparation for my forthcoming surgery, and B. to film the actual surgery and me having my face and teeth knocked about and of course, the final result . As you can imagine I've had a lot of jokes about this. Most especially from members of the band, friends, family, and uncle Tom Cobley and all. The most amusing offer came from the guys in the band, who very kindly offered to take me round the back of some theatre and beat me up so that it would look like I had had the procedures and then we could use the money to drink ourselves silly, and according to them. No one would be the wiser! Now that is what I call having really good mates ! NOT ! All joking aside, I am really looking forward to this. And of course playing in Prague. Naturally, we will keep you posted, and we will also let you see some before and after photos, which I'm sure should be amusing!. Plenty of very kind comments about my appearance on Never Mind the BuzzCocks last October, which apparently has been repeated two or three times now. I just hope they ask me back again, but this time as a panel member! A company called impact films have been in touch with me regarding an interview for the forthcoming Jethro Tull DVD. At this moment in time, I am still awaiting news from Ian Anderson as to the timing of this jolly event! I'm sure he'll get round to it in his own good time. From all accounts, it sounds like a really excellent project and similar ones that impact films have already done, made great headway in the DVD charts. It also looks like there is some interest in a project which I did a few years back called a Midsummer night's dream. For those of you out there who have this particular CD. You will know that my original intention for this piece of work was simply from my youngest son, Nick, who was 11 years old at the time and playing the lead part of Oberon the fairy King in his school production. The school asked me if I would be so kind as to provide the music and I dutifully obliged. It was a real pleasure doing it and to be honest. When the whole thing was finished I was very pleased with it. The school did a fine job of it naturally. I was also very proud of my son's performance, because he's such a good lad too ! A few years later, the school's senior drama group decided to do an upgraded version and performed it at the Edinburgh Festival. Again, I was asked to upgrade the music, which I did by adding some more songs. A couple of new singers and a complete remix of the whole thing . Roll forward to 2007 and yet again. There is renewed interest but this time from a highly professional and renowned gentleman , Dr. Ken Pickering, who is involved with many amateur and professional dramatic societies, and is extremely interested in the work and is also contemplating using this particular production and making it into an opera ! Wow! Now that would be really something. Again, I'll keep you posted as to the outcome. I'm still working very hard getting some new songs together for the forthcoming 2008 album and naturally I'm staying on track with all the kind of music that I love i.e. blues, soul, gospel, country but all grounded in my style of rock music. As I've had a couple of turbulent years. I feel that I have plenty to write about so again. Let's wait and see and hope that you enjoy the finished product. That's about as much as I can think of at this moment in
time, and it just remains to wish you all well, and thank you for your
continued loyalty and support.
